Deloitte Consulting CEO Warns of Layoffs

Big Four firm Deloitte's consulting arm will be letting go of about 2,500 workers in the next few weeks, in the face of the economic chaos wrought by the global pandemic, according to Bloomberg. Dan Helfrich, CEO and chairman of Deloitte’s consulting arm, said on an internal call Friday that the cuts will affect about 5 percent of workers. While details so far are scant, Bloomberg said that the cuts won't be made evenly across the board, which has become a particular worry among consultants not currently assigned to a project, as they fear they will be the first to go. This would not be the first job cut Deloitte consultants have faced: around the beginning of May, Consulting.ca reported that the firm's Toronto offices let go of about 200 workers in that area, which included both auditors and consultants.
