Joining the Society was a well-judged and rewarding step for me because I found my current internship through their networking events. I think that an accounting career is not an easy one, but when you are learning from the best, it becomes an amazing journey.
As a CPA, I have the opportunity to engage with different people. I love being able to interact with clients and engagement teams. And that means being proactive, taking the time to engage and understand their goals, passions, and struggles.
I recently attended the Women's Leadership Panel where we had truly inspiring and valuable conversation. As a woman, it is empowering to me to have these opportunities to network and attend events with other women in the field.
I was granted the opportunity to chair the Accounting and Services Committee a few years back. I can't express enough how much joining a committee within NYSSCPA had added such positive value to me.
I joined as a student member while pursuing my masters degree at Simon Business School. I was looking for an opportunity to engage with other professionals in the industry prior to beginning my own career. They have offered me that opportunity.
I enjoy being a CPA because I'm able to utilize and hone soft skills while continuously learning new topics and rules within the industry. In addition, working closely with clients and doing your best to provide value creates an environment where you have to be adaptive and constantly grow. Like being a CPA, the society has helped me evolve and grow as an individual.
