Since its establishment in 2015, the mission of the Moynihan Scholarship Fund (MSF) has been to support the education and development of high school and college students in New York State, while facilitating their exposure to accounting and business careers. In 2023, MSF awarded $159,600 in scholarships to deserving students. Please support the future of the profession with a donation.

Mission Statement

Recognizing the imperative to bolster the CPA pipeline through student exposure and access, the Moynihan Scholarship Fund (MSF) supports the education of students and advances financial literacy throughout New York State.

Vision Statement

We aim to build a strong CPA pipeline by ensuring that students have knowledge of the CPA profession, access and support through their educational journey to CPA.

MSF Overview

Established in 2015, the Moynihan Scholarship Fund (MSF) honors the memory of NYCPA Past President David J. Moynihan (1955-2015), a staunch advocate for educational opportunities. The Moynihan Scholarship Fund is an affiliate of the NYCPA, which supports and administers the NYCPA's student and pipeline programs:

MSF Priorities

  • Promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) throughout the profession – MSF is committed to advancing young, aspiring accounting professionals, regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability status or any other aspect of diversity.
  • Furnishing accounting education and outreach – With the mission of addressing the racial gap in the CPA profession, Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP) is an immersive and interactive program, focused on exposing underrepresented groups to the CPA profession and the myriad possibilities it offers.
  • Providing scholarships – By financially assisting top-notch accounting students, as well as offering them professional support and mentoring, we can help ensure that the pipeline of future accountants is robust. Your donations make the important work of MSF possible.
  • Supporting general membership DEI education – We work to push this priority forward through an annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Conference, organized by the statewide DEI Committee, dedicated to providing education to members and nonmembers alike.

Donate to the MSF

The Moynihan Scholarship Fund, Inc. (MSF) seeks to honor the memory of our past President David J. Moynihan, who was a champion of providing educational opportunities to young adults-whether in high school, college or just starting out in their careers- and has been directly responsible of helping hundreds of young people enroll in college and, even more, to become licensed certified public accountants. We are committed to continuing the work he started and grow this newly established fund in his honor.
