Newark, NJ -Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) has appointed Jenifer Piovesan as special agent in charge of its Newark Field Office. In this role, SAC Piovesan is responsible for planning and evaluating the activities of employees who conduct criminal investigations into tax violations and financial crimes in the Judicial District of New Jersey. The Newark Field Office is made up of seven posts of duty in New Jersey, a territory that covers 21 counties, including 564 municipalities comprised of 252 boroughs, 52 cities, 15 towns, 241 townships and 4 villages. Prior to her selection, SAC Piovesan served as the assistant special agent in charge for the Newark Field Office since 2022. She began her career as a special agent in 2009, in the Las Vegas Field Office. In 2017, she was promoted to the supervisory special agent position in the Los Angeles Field Office, San Diego post of duty. Other positions she has held include senior analyst with IRS-CI’s Strategy Section and Special Investigative Section. SAC Piovesan has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Phoenix.
