The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants Announces the 2023 Excellence in
Financial Journalism Award Winners
NEW YORK – (June 13, 2023) - For more than 30 years, the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) has recognized the best business and financial reporting through its Excellence in Financial Journalism (EFJ) Awards.
Broadcast, print, radio/podcast and online news organizations and reporters were asked to submit financial news stories that were published, posted or aired between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2022. Business book authors and publishers also entered this international contest. Student journalists at colleges and universities entered in our NextGen category.
Winners were selected by a panel of judges comprising NYSSCPA members and financial journalists, who ranked submissions based on accuracy, quality and thoroughness of research, as well as on an accurate and nonpartisan representation of the topic.

This year’s EFJ Awards judges were Orumé A. Hays, Lynne M. Fuentes, Scott M. Adair, Rumbi Bwerinofa-Petrozzello, Susan Rodetis, Michael Zaydon and Leah Spiro. The 2023 EFJ book judges were Justin Baer and Susan M. Barossi.
The presentation of the EFJ Awards will take place on June 23, 2023, at Tribeca Grill, during a hybrid ceremony.
