NYSSCPA announces 16 new Board members

New York’s largest CPA group elects new board members from every region of the state

NEW YORK – (June 30, 2016) – The New York State Society of CPAs, one of the nation’s largest accounting associations with more than 26,000 members, has elected 16 new members to join its Board of Directors.

These new leaders represent all regions from across the state of New York - including Albany, Rockland County, Westchester County,  Suffolk County, Nassau County, Buffalo, Staten Island, Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, New York; Newburgh (Orange County), Utica (Oneida County),  Passaic Park and Morganville, N.J. - and collectively account for decades of experience and expertise.

​​Harold L. Deiters III, Melville (Suffolk County)

Harold Deiters, CPA will join the Board as president-elect. Deiters is a partner at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP in Melville, N.Y. He will serve a one-year term before he is automatically installed as president of the NYSSCPA Board of Directors in June 2017.

Deiters is currently a member the Society’s Business Valuation and Finance committees.  Previously, Deiters has served as a Suffolk Chapter president, president-elect, vice-president, treasurer and executive board member. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from St. John’s University. He joined the Society in 1998 and resides in Suffolk County, N.Y.

Gregory J. Altman, Buffalo

Greg J. Altman, CPA and the director of Finance and Operations at Health Sciences Charter School, a charter high school located in Buffalo, has been elected to the Society’s Board of Directors as vice president. His one-year term began June 1.

Altman is currently a member of the Buffalo Chapter Cooperation with Educational Institutions and committees. Altman is also a member of the Buffalo COAP Advisory Board.

Altman was previously a member of the Membership and Awards committee and served as a past Buffalo Chapter president, president-elect, treasurer and executive board member. He attended New York University and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and later completed the University at Buffalo’s Graduate Tax Certificate Program. Altman joined the Society in 1989 and resides in Erie County, N.Y.

 
Anthony Chan, Queens

Anthony S. Chan, CPA and president of CA Global Consulting Inc. in Flushing, N.Y. has been elected to the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Board of Directors as vice president. His one-year term began June 1.

Chan just completed his three-year term on the Board as a Director-at-Large and he is currently a member of the Society’s Chief Financial Officers, Internal Audit and SEC committees. Since 2014 Chan has been a member of The CPA Journal Editorial Board.

Chan served as past chair of the Internal Audit, SEC, and Young CPAs committees. He was also a past member of the Taxation of Mergers and Acquisitions, Industry Oversight, and Membership Public Practice committees.

Chan received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Economics from Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY), and went on CUNY-Baruch College to receive his Master of Business Administration in Finance and Investments. Chan joined the Society in 1989 and is a member of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter.

Tracey Niemotko, Newburgh, N.Y. (Orange County)

Tracey J. Niemotko, JD, CPA, CFE, Professor of Accounting and Chair of the School of Business at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y., has been elected to join the  Board of Directors as a chapter representative.

An Orange County resident, Tracey will represent the Mid-Hudson Chapter for a three-year term, which began on June 1.  She currently serves on the Mid-Hudson COAP Advisory Board. 

A member of the Society since 1991, Tracey served as chair of the Academic Advancement and Higher Education Committee and as a member of the Awards and Members in the Field of Education committees. She also previously served as the Mid-Hudson Chapter president, vice president, secretary and executive board member.

Tracey received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fordham University and her Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law. She is also a licensed certified fraud examiner.  She has been an accounting educator for more than 30 years. 

Edward Esposito, Brooklyn

Edward F. Esposito, CPA and owner of Edward F. Esposito, CPA/ABV, CFE in Brooklyn, N.Y.  has been elected director as chapter representative by the NYSSCPA.  His three-year term began on June 1 and he will serve as a representative for the Society’s Queens/Brooklyn Chapter.

Esposito has been a member of the Society since 1986.

Throughout his membership, Esposito has been a member of the Awards, Litigation Services and Personal Financial Planning committees. He also served as chair of the Queens/Brooklyn Chapter Meetings Committee and co chair of the Queens/Brooklyn Chapter MAP Committee.

Esposito is currently the chair of the Business Valuation and the Queens/Brooklyn Chapter Sponsorship committees. He is also a member of the Consulting Services Oversight Committee.

Esposito received his Bachelor in Business Administration in Public Accounting from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business. Esposito resides in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Renee Rampulla, Staten Island 

The Society has elected Renee Rampulla, CPA as a director-at-large. Rampulla is the president and owner of Rampulla Advisory Services, LLC. Her three-year term began June 1.

Rampulla is the current chair of the Society’s Professional Ethics Committee and a member of the Financial Accounting Standards and CPA Exam Task Force committees. She is also the vice president of the Society’s Staten Island Chapter..

She has previously served as past chair of the Nominating Committee and past vice chair of the Professional Ethics Committee.

Rampulla received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Baruch College of the City University of New York. She joined the Society in 1992.

Salvatore A. Collemi, Morganville, N.J. 

Salvatore A. Collemi, CPA, managing member and founder, of Collemi Consulting & Advisory Services, LLC, in Morganville N.J., was elected director-at-large. His three-year term on the Society’s Board of Directors began June 1.

Collemi has been a member of the Society since 1998 and is a member of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter. He is the current chair of both the International Accounting and Auditing Committee and the Member Relations Committee.  He is also a member of the FAE Curriculum Committee and the Accounting and Auditing Oversight Committee. He previously was a member of the Professional Ethics Committee.

Collemi received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from City University of New York, Brooklyn College and resides in Morganville, New Jersey.

John J. Lauchert, Clinton (Oneida County)

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) has elected Clinton, N.Y.-based CPA John Lauchert, as secretary/treasurer to its Board of Directors.

Lauchert is an outsource chief financial officer consultant with Horizon CFO LLC in Clinton, N.Y. His one-year term began June 1. 

Lauchert is currently a member of the Bankruptcy and Financial Reorganization Committee as well as the Chief Financial Officers Committee. He previously served as chairman for the NYSCCPA’s Members in Industry Committee in Buffalo and Utica, as well as the president of the Society’s Foundation for Accounting Education’s Board of Trustees.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Applied Business Management at Cornell University and his Master of Business Administration from the Johnson Graduate School of Management.

Lauchert joined the Society in 1981 and is a member of the Utica Chapter.

Michael M. Todres, Westbury, N.Y. (Nassau County)

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) has elected Michael Todres, CPA of Westbury, N.Y., as a director-at-large on its Board of Directors. Todres is the managing partner of Todres & Company, LLP in Westbury.

 His three-year term began June 1.

Todres joined the Society in 1974 and is a member of the Society’s Nassau Chapter.

Todres is past chair of the Management of an Accounting Practice and the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter Cooperation with Bankers and Other Credit Grantors committees. He also is a past member of the Community Affairs, Cooperation with the Financial Media, and Entertainment and Sports committees.

Todres earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from Bucknell University and his Master of Science degree in Accounting from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. 

John S. Shillingsford, Hauppauge, N.Y. (Suffolk County)

John Shillingsford, CPA and partner of Albrecht Viggiano Zureck & Company, P.C., in Hauppauge, N.Y., has been elected vice president to the Society’s Board of Directors. His one-year term began June 1.

Shillingsford has been a member of the Society since 1994 and is a member of the Suffolk Chapter.

Previously, Shillingsford has served the Society as a member of the Nominating and Executive committees and Strategy Task Force. He has also served as the Suffolk Chapter’s president, president-elect, vice president, treasurer and executive board member.

Shillingsford received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Elizabethtown College in 1985 and resides in Suffolk County, N.Y.

Brian M. Reese, Whitesboro, N.Y.  (Utica County)

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) has elected Utica CPA Brian M. Reese, of Fitzgerald DePietro & Wojnas CPAs, P.C. in Utica, N.Y., to its Board of Directors as a chapter representative for the Utica Chapter. His three-year term began June 1.

A Society member since 2004, Reese previously served as a member of the NextGen Committee and chair of the Utica Chapter Tax Panel. He also served as the past Utica Chapter president, president-elect and treasurer.

Reese earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The College at Brockport, State University of New York. He resides in Whitesboro, N.Y.

Sol S. Basilyan, Passaic Park, N.J. 

Sol Basilyan,  CPA and tax director at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.  has been elected a director-at-large to the Board of Directors. His three-year term began June 1.

Basilyan is currently a member of the Partnerships and LLCs and Taxation of Financial Instruments and Transactions committees.

Basilyan received his Bachelor of Arts in Law from Ner Israel Rabbinical College, his Master in Taxation from Seton Hall University and his Master of Business Administration in Finance from Johns Hopkins University’s Carey Business School.

Basilyan joined the Society in 2008, is a member of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter and resides in Passaic Park, N.J. 

Susan M. Barossi, Yonkers (Westchester County)

Susan Barossi, CPA and partner at PKF O’Connor Davies in New York City, has been elected vice president to the Board of Directors.  Her one-year term began June 1.

Barossi is currently a member of the Society’s Public Schools, Government Accounting and Auditing, and Sustainability committees.

She has previously served as the Society’s director-at-large on the Board of Directors and was a member of the Accounting and Auditing Oversight and Not-for-Profit Organizations committees, as well as a previous member of the Task Force on Government Audit Quality.

Barossi joined the NYSSCPA in 1992 and is a member of the Westchester Chapter. She resides in Yonkers, N.Y.

Christopher G. Cahill, New York City

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants has elected Christopher Cahill, partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP, as a director-at-large to its Board of Directors. His three-year term began June 1.

Cahill also currently serves as a member of the Society’s Banking and Audit committees.

He has previously served on the Board of Directors as a vice president and as a member. He is a past member of the Society’s Nominating, Executive, Awards and SEC Practice committees.

Cahill is a graduate of St. John’s University, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and serves on the university’s Department of Accounting and Taxation Executive Advisory Board. He also has a Master in Business Administration in finance from Baruch College of the City University of New York.

Cahill joined the Society in 1991 and is a member of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter. His other professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York Banker’s Association and the Institute of International Bankers. He resides in Floral Park, N.Y. 

Kevin P. O’Leary, Albany

Kevin O’Leary, CPA and director of Marvin and Company, has been elected director as chapter representative for the Northeast Chapter.

O’Leary was added to the Society’s Board of Directors as a representative of its Northeast Chapter and his three-year term began June 1. O'Leary has been a Society member since 2000.

He previously served as the Northeast Chapter president, president-elect, vice president, secretary and treasurer. O’Leary has also been the past chair of the Northeast Chapter NextGen Committee as well as a past member of the Northeast Chapter Cooperation with Educators and Golf Outing committees.

O’Leary graduated from Hartwick College with his Bachelor of Science in accounting and resides in Saratoga County, N.Y.

Mitchell A. Davis, New City (Rockland County)

Davis, CPA and manager of Grassi & Co. was elected added to the Society’s Board as a representative of  the Rockland Chapter and his three-year term began June 1.

Davis has been a member of the Society since 2002 and is currently a member of the Accounting and Review Services Committee and the Rockland Chapter Executive Board. He previously served as a member of the Awards Committee and was a past Rockland Chapter president, president-elect, secretary and treasurer.

Davis received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Farleigh Dickinson University. Davis resides in Rockland County, N.Y.
