A number of major companies have said they plan to pay workers to take the coronavirus vaccine, reported CNN Business. They include grocery chains Aldi and Trader Joe's, gig work platform Instacart, discount retailer Dollar General; all will give their employees some form of payment to get vaccinated, whether a $25 direct payment in the case of Instacart or additional hours' worth of pay in the case of Trader Joe's and Dollar General.
In general, companies can require that their workers get vaccinated, as such mandates are usually not in violation of federal law. Some companies are pondering just such a requirement for their employees, as 72 percent of CEOs said they were open to the idea in a December poll. While not widespread, such mandates have been announced by some employers, though so far these appear to be mostly nursing homes.
