The Federal Emergency Management Agency awards grants to give eligible states, DC, territories, and tribes the funding they need to establish revolving loan funds for mitigation projects.
The IT system that the Department of Veterans Affairs uses for financial management is over 30 years old. Two prior attempts to replace the system failed after years of development and hundreds of millions of dollars in costs.
U.S. companies aren't usually required to publicly name the people who own them. This lack of transparency can be attractive to criminals laundering money or hiding illegal activities.
Three banks failed in early 2023. Top executives at these banks received stock bonuses totaling about $130 million from Jan. 2021-March 2023. One bank paid bonuses to executives on the day it failed.

Washington D.C., Feb. 20, 2025 — The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced the creation of the Cyber and Emerging Technologies Unit (CETU) to focus on combatting cyber-related misconduct and to protect retail investors from bad actors in the emerging technologies space. The CETU, led by Laura D’Allaird, replaces the Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit and is comprised of approximately 30 fraud specialists and attorneys across multiple SEC offices.
