Bernie Madoff Requesting President to Reduce Sentence

Notorious fraudster Bernie Madoff, who is currently serving out as 150-year prison sentence for a multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme, is asking the president to take a few years off that total, according to The Hill. Little is known about the request, such as how many years could even potentially be taken off, as the Department of Justice's database only indicates that he is seeking it. The Hill notes that he is not looking for the president to pardon him but rather commute his sentence.

Madoff's former personal secretary Annette Bongiorno, currently serving a six-year sentence, is also looking for commutation. She asked in January to be released to home confinement, but this request was denied.
