Certified Public Accountants Announces the 2024 Excellence in Financial Journalism Award Winners

NEW YORK – (July 16, 2024) - For more than 40 years, the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) has recognized the best business and financial reporting through its Excellence in Financial Journalism (EFJ) Awards.

Broadcast, print, radio/podcast and online news organizations and reporters were asked to submit financial news stories that were published, posted or aired between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023. Business book authors and publishers also entered this international contest. Student journalists at colleges and universities entered our NextGen category.

Winners were selected by a panel of judges comprising NYSSCPA members and financial journalists, who ranked submissions based on accuracy, quality and thoroughness of research, and on an accurate and nonpartisan representation of the topic.

The winners of the 2024 EFJ Awards are as follows:

The EFJ Awards will be presented on July 19, 2024, at Tribeca Grill. During the ceremony, Alison Cooke Mintzer, the head of ISS Media, whose flagship titles include Chief Investment Officer, PLANADVISER, and PLANSPONSOR, will serve as this year’s keynote speaker. In 2014, Mintzer was recognized by Folio as a Top Woman in Media. She holds a B.S. in journalism from Boston University, with a concentration in economics and a minor in classical civilizations.
