Corporate Investigations Pioneer Jules Kroll to Keynote 2014 Anti-Fraud Conference
Jules Kroll, considered the father of modern corporate investigations, will be the keynote speaker at the 2014 Anti-Fraud Conference May 21 in New York.
Kroll will share his insights and discuss the latest technological techniques his new firms, K2 Investigations and Kroll Bond Ratings Agency, use to combat corporate fraud and provide credible securities ratings. The company he first founded and built into an industry empire, Kroll Inc. - which among other things helped track the hidden assets of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos, Haiti’s “Baby Doc” Duvalier and Saddam Hussein - went public and was sold to Marsh & McLennan for $1.9 billion in 2004.
The all-day conference, which will also be broadcast via a live webcast, will be held at the Foundation for Accounting Education’s Learning Center at the offices of the New York State Society of CPAs, 14 Wall Street in Manhattan.
“I’ve taken great pride and satisfaction that my businesses – that have fought corruption and graft in public finance – have raised the bar and provided a fair, reliable and trustworthy product,” he said. “I’m looking forward to sharing some of my ideas and philosophies at the conference.”
Other investigators who will be speaking include former DEA agent Robert Strang, CEO of the Investigative Management Group; and Joe Morris, vice president Special Operations at Delta Security Services. Discussion topics will cover how investigators and forensic accountants routinely collaborate to identify fraud and offer recommendations and leading practices on how to prevent and deter fraud in organizations.
Other topics to be discussed at the conference include:
- The Reid Technique of Interviewing and Interrogation - focusing on admission-seeking interviews,
- Litigation Consulting Roles Performed by CPAs – services in the courtroom and behind the scenes,
- Cloud Computing and the Legal Implications – where is your data and what are your rights?
Attendees will also hear from and network with leading forensic experts and learn best practices in risk assessment, finding red flags in data analytics, handling family fraud and embezzlement and the best tools to prevent cyber breaches.
“As technology changes, we are all seeing fraud become more sophisticated , and of course we work to develop and deploy increasingly sophisticated detection and prevention methods, “ said Russell Kranzler, chair of the Anti-Fraud Conference and the Society’s Litigation Services Committee. “This conference will provide valuable perspectives and the kind of information that you can put to use immediately.”
