The Big Four, slowly but surely, are starting to compete with some of the largest law firms in the country, according to an article in CFO.com. At this point, the legal divisions of the Big Four firms actually dwarf most actual law firms, according to the CFO article, pointing out for example that by sheer number of lawyers, PwC’s legal services division would be the 10th largest law firm in the world if it were its own entity. The remainder are all in at least the top 40 firms by this measure said, CFO.com. However, unlike top law firms, the Big Four are more concerned with process-oriented workaday legal services, leaving the headline-making lawsuits to the elite law firms. Still, said CFO.com, these more prosaic services are the lifeblood of smaller firms, and without the resources that the Big Four can bring to bear, it might be difficult to compete.
