Study Projects Climate Change Will Increase Cost of Flood Losses by 26 Percent by 2050

While right now the worst flooding risk is in impoverished, rural and mostly White communities, the report said that as time goes by, this will start shifting to mainly Black communities at a rate twice as fast. 

The researchers advised zoning boards to avoid approving development in areas prone to flooding and warned that the toll might be higher if the world does not swiftly decarbonize.
