Very few white workers believe racism is a problem at their company, but nearly half of Black workers do, according to MarketWatch. The poll, conducted by the Society of Human Resource Managers, used a sample of 1,300 professionals from across the country.
They found that while 49 percent of Black HR professionals believe racism exists at their job, only 13 percent of white HR professionals said the same. This difference might also explain why 68 percent of Black HR professionals believe their company is not doing enough to provide opportunities to Black workers versus 44 percent of white HR professionals.
The survey also polled run of the mill workers about how they felt about race relations on the job and found that 35 percent of Black workers said there was racial inequity at their jobs versus just 7 percent of white workers; there was a similar difference about not feeling respected at work, 33 versus 18 percent respectively.
