New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that, as of Friday, businesses cannot have more than 50 percent of their staff working away from home, according to local NBC affiliate WGRZ. He did not give an indication of how long this mandate would be in effect, and further said that if the virus impact worsens, then he might consider reducing the workforce even further. The exceptions to this rule include those working in what he said were essential services, such as food, health care, financial services, shipping and supplies.
Cuomo said that, as of this morning, there are 1,008 new positive cases in the state, bringing the total to 2,382, which he said is the highest amount of cases in the United States. In New York, 549 people are currently hospitalized. Twenty people have died.
