The AICPA has launched a new national advertising and social media campaign aimed at increasing public awareness of the CPA profession and highlighting the value CPAs bring to businesses, individuals, and the broader economy.
The Journal of Accountancy reports that the initiative, called CPA Trust, was developed in collaboration with state CPA societies and focuses on expanding public understanding of the profession beyond traditional tax and audit services. The campaign emphasizes the role CPAs play as trusted advisers who help organizations and individuals navigate complex financial decisions.
“This campaign reinforces that the CPA is more than a license—it’s a source of clarity and confidence that helps businesses and individuals make smarter, safer decisions,” said Sue Coffey, CPA, CGMA, CEO–Public Accounting at the AICPA. “The public’s trust in CPAs is strong. Now we want to expand understanding of everything CPAs do, to show how CPAs keep the economy moving by partnering to solve problems, create opportunity, and move from uncertainty to action.”
The campaign includes national cable advertising, digital and social media outreach, and a partnership with a major cable news network. A flagship commercial carrying the message “CPA: Where Trust Meets Expertise” began airing in June on programs including Squawk Box, Fox & Friends, and Morning Joe.
The effort is also supported by a new website, TrustedCPA.org, which showcases the profession’s impact and explains how CPA licensure, ethics requirements, and professional oversight contribute to public trust.
“This campaign will tell the story of our profession, its impact, and why the CPA is the most trusted business adviser,” said AICPA President and CEO Mark Koziel, CPA, CGMA. “Most Americans don’t know how much depends on that work. This campaign will change that.”
