The Journal of Accountancy reports that the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) is seeking applicants for an open seat on the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), with applications due July 3.

According to the posting, the FAF is looking for a candidate with significant experience either as a state government preparer of financial statements or as a public accountant focused on state and local government accounting and auditing. The selected individual will join GASB’s seven-member board for a five-year term beginning July 1, 2027.

GASB, which operates under the oversight of the FAF, is responsible for establishing generally accepted accounting principles for state and local governments. The board is made up of members with backgrounds across government finance, public accounting, academia, and financial statement users.

The position is considered part-time and equivalent to approximately one-third of a full-time role. Additional information about the role and application requirements is available through the Financial Accounting Foundation.
