Dues Reduction Information
TEMPORARILY OUT OF THE WORKFORCE POLICY
This dues class is available to any member:
- Who has lost his or her job for more than six months and is looking for new employment;
- Who is providing full-time care to a loved one(s) without compensation;
- Who has retired (working less than 1,000 hours per year) but is not yet 65 years of age;
- Who is not working due to temporary illness or disability; or
- Who is a full-time student and is certified.
Classification criteria:
- Must be a member in good standing for at least three years.
- Must adhere to a five-year limitation for the duration of their membership. The five years can be consecutive or in one-year increments.
- Members classified as temporarily out of the workforce will pay the retiree dues rate.
- The dues reduction is not available to any dues classification with dues below the retiree rate.
- Must submit a signed application for the dues classification annually affirming their current status, with a pledge to alert the NYCPA if they re-enter the workforce or otherwise become ineligible for this status.
Waiver requests, as opposed to a dues reduction, criteria:
- Only provided for Active Military Duty or extenuating circumstances (medical) that prevent a member from employment.
- Must be submitted in a formal letter along with a completed application, and will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the Executive Committee.
- Must submit a signed application for the waiver annually affirming their status, with a pledge to alert the NYCPA if they re-enter the workforce or otherwise become ineligible for this status.
