Dr. Timothy Coville holds a Ph.D. in Business Management from Rutgers University. He earned an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University and is a Phi Beta Kappa key-holder having graduated Summa Cum Laude from S.U.N.Y. Albany with a B.S. double-majoring in both Accounting & Economics. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of New York. More recently, he became one of the first cohort of less than a hundred individuals internationally to earn the Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) credential sponsored by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). Dr. Coville was able to obtain his undergraduate education thanks to the support of the G.I. Bill from his service as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. Dr. Coville has published in Advances in Public Interest Accounting, the International Journal of Disclosure and Governance, the Review of Business, the Journal of Global Awareness and the Academy of Business Research journals. He also authored a chapter in the forthcoming book titled, "The Past, Present, and Future of Accountancy Education and Professions." He has presented research papers in Europe and the USA and published in such international, national and regional conference proceedings as the INFORMS section on Group Decision and Negotiation and the American Accounting Association’s Annual National Meeting, its Mid-Atlantic and North East Regions Annual Meetings, and its Auditing Section Midyear Conference. Dr. Coville currently serves as an associate editor for the International Journal of Disclosure and Governance and as the Vice-Chair for the New York State Society of CPA's Sustainability Accounting & Reporting Committee. Dr. Coville came to academia after a successful 20 year career as a controller and risk manager for international derivatives trading firms. His banking career entailed a number of extended assignments and travel in Europe, Asia, and South America as well as the USA. His research interests are in corporate governance, international financial reporting standards, derivative products, financial literacy and sustainability. He has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate level in the following accounting disciplines: Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Auditing and Sustainability.
