The Financial Leadership Certificate Program: Taxation of Business Entities Series is designed to build strong tax fluency and elevate the strategic decision-making capabilities of today’s finance leaders. Organizations operate in an environment where entity choice, transaction structure, and multistate activity each create tax exposures that influence cash flow, EBITDA, valuation, and overall business strategy. This certificate program connects foundational tax concepts with the practical, finance centered application needed in leadership roles for accountants and financial professionals.
Across five focused modules, the certificate program explores how C Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships and LLCs, and State and Local tax regimes shape planning and performance. Instead of centering on compliance mechanics, the series emphasizes decision frameworks, scenario analysis, risk awareness, and strategic insight used when advising executive teams, boards, and private equity stakeholders.
Participants learn to interpret tax rules through a financial leadership perspective, including evaluating after tax cash flows, understanding the economic impact of entity structure, managing distributions and compensation, and assessing state tax exposure across a variety of business situations. Each module uses practical examples and organizational scenarios to help participants apply concepts directly to budgeting, M and A, capital planning, and operational decision making.
The certificate program is built for accounting and financial professionals in growing and mid-market organizations where tax considerations often rest with finance rather than dedicated tax departments. Each module blends conceptual clarity with practical tools and case-based learning to equip participants for confident discussions with advisors, auditors, and internal leadership.
The final module brings together all concepts learned throughout the series. Participants collaborate in groups to analyze a comprehensive tax scenario, develop an integrated entity tax strategy, and present recommendations through an executive ready summary. This culminating experience reinforces expertise of the material and strengthens communication skills needed in real world leadership roles.
By the end of the certificate program, participants will understand how different business entities are taxed and how tax rules shape strategy, capital decisions, and long-term financial performance.
Join FAE, your industry colleagues, five guest speakers, and our moderator, Philip London, for five consecutive Thursdays from 3–5 p.m. ET starting April 30 and concluding May 28.
